Establishing an LDS Account to obtain a Username and Password for New Family Search

What is an LDS Account?

It is the user name and password that is used to access LDS Stake and Ward websites as well as many other church websites, including New Family Search.

How do I obtain an LDS Account?

The direct link for the creation (or verification) of an LDS Account is:

To go there now, just click here.

Clicking on the green “Register for the new FamilySearch” link just below the sign in windows on the New Family Search home page will also guide you in obtaining one. (This is demonstrated in the tutorial linked below.

Or: The path for finding the LDS Account creation page manually is simple:

1. Log onto LDS.org.

2. Click on the “About the Church” link toward the top of the menu on the left of the page.

3. Then click on the “Stake and Ward Websites” link that appears toward the bottom of the resulting popup menu.

That will quickly take the member to the portal page for sign in to a Ward or Stake website, if they already have an LDS Account username and password, or, to the link just below the sign-in button, which says, “Obtain an LDS Account.”
